Eaa Union Tentative Agreement

As you know, we are currently negotiating at the central table as part of a union alliance called EWAO-ATEO. As you know, we received a strong strike mandate from our members last September. UTLA has voluntary service agreements with LAUSD in the following areas: DIS in-person volunteers, in person Small Group Tutoring Services, Physical Conditioning Services, Adult Education (DACE), In-person Assessments and Tutoring In-Person. A copy of the full agreement will be made available to members on the website prior to the meeting. As you know, the EAA negotiates at the provincial negotiating table with a union alliance (EWAO-ATEO). On June 18 and 19, the Alliance met with representatives of school boards and the Ontario government (for the first time since February 2015) to exchange proposals and negotiate the terms of our collective agreement. Interim employment contracts will be published as soon as they become available. That is why all EWAO-ATEO unions will hold a strike vote in early September before our next collective bargaining in the provinces. Agreement on the provision of services of the EEC The work that our EEC staff are doing with our youngest learners is fundamental and is leading students on the path to new success, and we are pleased to have reached an agreement last week on the voluntary provision of personal benefits to the Early Education Centre. The agreement is similar to those we have obtained for voluntary disso service services, student evaluations, private lessons, private lessons for small groups, adult ed/CTE education, team sports fitness and nurses working in the COVID test program. Interim agreements (TA) are proposed collective agreements that have not been ratified (approved) by union leaders and the foundation board. EU members use provisional agreements to inform their vote when it is time to ratify new agreements. Preliminary agreements also give CSU leaders a taste of how the proposed contracts will work before they are approved.

After the ratification of an interim agreement, it becomes a current collective agreement. Protests against the election must be received by 5:00 p.m. on December 4, 2020. Please email all documents to the electoral commission: electioncommittee@eaaunion.org. UtLA has agreements with LAUSD on safety and working conditions for members who voluntarily offer adult further education courses, all of which require a certain level of work. We are pleased to be able to reach an agreement that supports our most vulnerable students and respects best practices to ensure the health and safety of our school communities. Negotiations in California this week reached another worrisome milestone in covid-19, with new records of infections and hospitalizations. On Tuesday, LA County reported more than 7,500 new cases, a dramatic one-day increase. Federal, federal and municipal officials need to take more aggressive measures to slow the spread of the virus before hospitals are overcrowded and our communities are further affected. We are working with allies of the labour and community to strengthen the demand for more immediate action against the virus.

We continue to negotiate with LAUSD, but a physical return is not imminent, and no one around the table – UTLA or LAUSD – pushes to a specific date to return.
